About us
When comparing our products and service with our competitors bear in mind the company that's been around since 1965 should know their way around a shed by now. Rod Douglas Construction Ltd has been in business for 40 years and during that time has had only two owners. The market of course has changed over the years with the emphasis going away from the traditional half-round haybarn for farmers, which is synonymous with the Rod Douglas name in Northland, to sheds and barns for the lifestyle block owner. These sheds, either for a boat, workshop or other related purposes tend to be more upmarket in appearance or aesthetics as well as being extremely functional. However, Rod Douglas Construction still builds half-round barns and are frequently being asked to quote for extensions to existing barns which have now stood the test of time over the last 30 years or so. In recent times the company has extended the range of half round barns, monopitch and gable sheds to include shell stage homes based on the traditional barn design such as the American style barn and the Minors Cottage.
Rod Douglas's range of Lifestyle Buildings have been introduced to offer more upmarket designs to cater for consumer demand. Although they start at a standard size and height, in common with all Rod Douglas buildings, they can be customised to individual needs within the limits of engineering requirements. Cladding materials are commonly Zincalume, Colorsteel or plywood & batten: however should a customer have a preference for an alternative material then the company will be pleased to quote for it. Rod Douglas Construction Limited promotes the concept of timber portal frame structures, which offer a more user-friendly material than steel to apply fixings or lining materials to the inside. |
